Concurrent session 8 – We are all making new media: what libraries need to know

TITLE: We are all making new media: what libraries need to know.

ABSTRACT:  New ways of creating media are impacting on libraries. How are our communities using them? How can we use them? How do we archive these? What do they mean for our traditional concern with privacy? This session explains vodcasting, screencasting, slidecasting, podcasting, microblogging, machinima and lifestreaming. It outlines what they are and how they are created. It raises many questions about how libraries can harness these to provide information, recreation and a sense of community with our users.
